The collab

Four weeks in Phnom Penh. You'll work alongside a crew of documentary filmmakers in direct collaboration with a locally-led changemaker organization, producing a short documentary from research through final edit.

This is a production program, not a press trip. There's no itinerary of content moments. The days are slower and more demanding than that, and the footage you come back with will show it.

Your spot is $2,500 off the program fee, you pay $2,500. Housing, meals, and full program participation for four weeks are included. In exchange, we're asking for a serious content commitment: this is a working collaboration, not a freebie.

About Actuality Abroad

Actuality Abroad runs documentary filmmaking programs on location around the world. Vietnam, Morocco, Kenya, Peru, Nepal, Cambodia — crew members spend four weeks embedded in a community, researching stories, building access, and producing a short documentary from the ground up. The July 2026 program is based in Panajachel, Guatemala, on Lake Atitlán.

We collaborate with creators who want footage that looks like it came from somewhere, not content produced for content's sake. If your audience follows you because you find things worth finding, we're a fit.
