For creators with at least 10K followers, the exchange requires four Instagram reels, one story, one screening carousel, five TikTok videos and one YouTube long video, with a collab post credit and reposting rights for Actuality Abroad.
Mix on-location and post-program reels; post the story after the program, the screening carousel at program end, and the YouTube video within 60 days of the program. Work in a crew of four to five filmmakers with a locally led changemaker organization, producing a short documentary from research through final edit. The Japan program runs June 5 to July 4, 2027.
Actuality Abroad runs documentary filmmaking programs on location around the world. Vietnam, Morocco, Kenya, Peru, Nepal, Cambodia — crew members spend four weeks embedded in a community, researching stories, building access, and producing a short documentary from the ground up. The July 2026 program is based in Panajachel, Guatemala, on Lake Atitlán.
We collaborate with creators who want footage that looks like it came from somewhere, not content produced for content's sake. If your audience follows you because you find things worth finding, we're a fit.
